calling all singaporeans!
this is rather old (and somewhat quirky) news. but if you haven’t yet, do give your smile to the 4 million smiles campaign. selected smiles would be placed at convention centers, on bus ads, MRT posters and outdoor banners.
besides online and MMS submission, there are also “smile ambassadors” (a rather bizarre term) combing the streets with their digital cameras, urging singaporeans to give their smiles. but knowing how things go around here, probably one in two singaporeans would simply ignore them, thinking it’s volunteers asking for donations. some would probably say, “dowan dowan!” or “bu yao bu yao!” and briskly walk off.
people here tend to take things too seriously. and as a nation we probably don’t smile enough. hopefully this campaign would be a baby step towards building a more friendly nation.
of the smiles collected, some would even be used to form a mile-long mural lining the expressway from changi airport. i want mine to be one of those!

the nifty little functions you see around here (subscription, page views, et cetera) are all wordpress plugins. i don’t think they can be ported to movabletype.
