5 Things You Didn’t Know About Me

i’ve been tagged by kloudiia to share five things that most people didn’t know about me. now that’s a tough one. my life is pretty much like an open book except for the deepest and darkest secrets that i have (if i had any). but i ain’t about to shed light on them over here, am i?

nonetheless, here goes. think you already know everything about me? *hears echoes of “who cares?” and “boooooo”*

1. i am extremely clumsy. if someone tripped over a rock, knocked over a bookcase, spilled a bowl of curry all over you (or hot mocha, i’ve done both), or fell down on a busy street, legs sprawling in the air, chances are that person is me. in fact only last night at a gathering in pitstop café, i knocked over a penguin-shaped water cooler and made someone wet!

2. i bruise like a peach. this point is closely related to point 1. at any one time i have at least a bruise or a blister somewhere on my body, and i would have no recollection of how it got there. most of the time i wouldn’t even feel it until someone pointed out my nasty bruise. my friend fernando tried to recruit me into his gang of ultimate fighters one time. but then he changed his mind on knowing how easily i turn purple.

3. i had good grades in school. i scored an A* for all my subjects in the primary school leaving examination (PSLE), 8 distinctions out of 9 for the O levels in secondary school, 3 distinctions out of 4 for the A levels at junior college, and 1490/1600 for my SAT. wow, what a lot of bragging! then i got into university and flunked computer science of course. i barely made it out with a degree! damn!

4. i am fearless! well, except when it comes to any of the following:

  • water — i have severe hydrophobia from a near-drowning incident when i was little. but hey, at least i’m not too chicken to bungy jump!
  • lizards, cockroaches, centipedes, millipedes — actually to be more accurate, what i fear is that they may come into contact with me. i start shrieking like a little girl and running like a woman.
  • death — too many places i haven’t been to. too many dreams unfulfilled. too many people i would have to leave. yes, i fear death indeed.

now, don’t anyone start giving me that “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself” crap!

5. i still look out for stars at night. if there’s one thing i love seeing more than the beautiful places on god’s green earth, it is those little diamond studs sprinkled across an inky black sky. but we don’t really get a good view over here in singapore, do we?

that’s it! five things you didn’t know about me, and now you do! i shall tag another five people to do the same. it’ll be fun! come on, my fellow geeky bloggers!

tag, you’re it: Beni, chillycraps, DK, Merv, Pkchukiss

    2. Haha damn funny. Each time I spill something, someone else gets it, lostin in this case. One time I met a cute guy in my tutorial, and we had breakfast together after that. I ended up dropping my hot mocha and spilling it all over his feet (and that was the first time he met me!). Instead of getting pissed with me, he was nice enough to buy me another mocha. Phew! 3. Hey girl

Well, I’m not rubbing salt into the wound here, but it feels darn good that I’m not the only one knocking things down or knocking myself into big objects hahaha :D I’m with you on Pts 1 & 2 too! Oh gosh. But on top of bruises, I get cuts, and they leave scars on my skin which takes years to fade. Damn!

      Hmm… I love stars too…

And to end this, I’m gonna leave you with this quote for you to mull over:

“There’s nothing to fear, but fear itself” hahaha :D View all comments by Dating Specialist

    5. Hey Veron, I also often get bruises out of nowhere and did not realised until I accidentally pressed on it, and I will bump onto the door, the wall, the cabinet and nearly caused my shelf load of books to fall onto my pc… *sweat* View all comments by Xanthe

    7. shall share some of my clumsy moment to make you feel better~

i always go through glass doors by pushing the door and walking at the same time, but there are times when i pushed the glass doors, but by virtue of the fact that i’m lousy and haven’t enough arm strength, the door doesn’t open but i still kept walking, and rammed myself right into the door. did it three times, all three times in public areas, once at starbucks, one at citylink mall, and the last one at the university health and wellness centre.

i also periodically ram my big toe into those grooves along the ground and trip over drains and humps and those small steps. that’s why i hate science. the ground there isn’t smooth as arts.

haha… feeling better now? at least you aren’t the clumsiest person around~ View all comments by xxoos

    9. Dating Specialist: Those cuts and scars sound nasty! And you just have to leave me with a quote, don’t you? :P

      chillycraps: You’re welcome!

      Xanthe: You and I both!

DK: I’ll bet he does, the same way I remember him, but not exactly the same way.

xxoos: Hahaha we sure have many clumsy people around here. Phew! The glass door thing sounds pretty rare though. The closest encounter I had would be the time I walked right into a full-length glass window because I didn’t know it was there!

mervkwok: Hey, I tagged you for a reason. I know you won’t disappoint :) View all comments by Veron

    13. Just happened to chance upon your blog yesterday. Today, 8 Feb 07, I was reading the TODAY papers and on page 52, I was quite surprised to see the same castle as featured in your design. Kind of Spooky! …. anyway good layout and content. :) View all comments by ghosthack

    14. I see that many others before me has got the part on your (and their) clumsiness very well covered, so I won’t go there anymore.
Well, no matter how badly you did for uni, this website is a testimony to the fact that you have achieved much more than what some of your peers would ever!
I’m sure many of those who scored distinctions in uni those days are slogging away in some office somewhere right now! Not the kind of life you would want, right? :) View all comments by think2ink

    15. DT: Haha I already did! In fact I wanted to tag you, but thought it wouldn’t be relevant subject matter for your awesome designer blog.

ghosthack: The castle is the Schloss Neuschwanstein in Germany. It’s world famous and I’m not surprised it appeared in the Today paper :)
