my sincerest apologies to the people who have written to me recently. i haven’t been able to reply as it’s been one crazy week over here. but rest assured that i still am actively reading and checking my email and i promise to reply real soon! keep those email coming!
besides training my new apprentice at work for the past week, i also celebrated my birthday with friends in advance. with it being day one at the new company tomorrow, i reckon i wouldn’t have time to celebrate my birthday on the day itself. so other than the usual meals and cards and “happy birthdays”, i’d like to thank especially a colleague, or ex-colleague rather, for putting much thought and effort into my birthday celebration.

what surprised me the most was that he actually got me flowers, and made sure they were wrapped in my favorite color, purple. i haven’t received flowers since… valentine’s day? while most singaporean guys are saying “flowers are a waste of money”, he was like “every girl deserves flowers on her birthday”. kudos to that! singaporean guys should try to learn this instead of lamenting the fact that girls are ending up with their caucasian counterparts.

had a dim sum meal at din tai fung. the food was good! the dumplings were comparable to, if not better than crystal jade la mian xiao long bao’s. but i shall blog about din tai fung another time.
remember my rave about chippy british take away? i was so intrigued with their fried mars bars i had been wanting to try one ever since. well i finally got the chance! for $2.95 you get four chunks of fried mars bar with a choice of either vanilla or chocolate ice cream. i went for vanilla as i thought chocolate would be too heaty with the fried mars bar. so how was it?

well it was… interesting. not nearly as yummy as i thought it would be. the mars bar was simply coated in a thin layer of batter and deep fried after that. i didn’t really think it tasted out-of-the-ordinary. perhaps it would have been better if the mars bar was more chocolatey.
what followed was a hand, foot and shoulder massage at kenko. it was my first time getting foot reflexology and i couldn’t stand it initially! it felt so painful at the start, especially when the reflexologist kneaded the flats of my toes. she was so petite, and had that sweet smile on the whole time while applying herculean strength on me. how did she do it? i had to ask her to be gentler with me. eventually it did get very relaxing and i almost fell asleep! i think i should go for foot reflexology sessions frequently from now on. endless hours of walking on heels and stilettos are seriously overworking my feet.
i am also beginning to like hanging out at the outdoor stage of the esplanade. there are live performances every friday and weekend evenings. even if the bands aren’t good most of the time, watching they perform some of my favorite songs can be a pretty therapeutic experience. never mind if it’s rock. i’m quite a rock chick at heart.
who’s game?

Happy birthday!! I’m glad the fried mars bars weren’t nasty at least. I can’t imagine eating a candy coated in batter and fried. XD
Hope your birthday wishes come true!! View all comments by Mandy
Ah, I like the esplanade, but I prefer to be either near the promenade or indoors. I wonder if I would be able to recognise you if I were to see you nearby the Esplanade. View all comments by py
Thanks for your blessing, Mandy!
Fried candy doesn’t sound too appetising does it? But I’m glad I got to try it! With all the hype over those fried mars bars, I’m sure I can find a better rendition of it elsewhere. View all comments by Veron
