Birthday Charm for My Mom

it’s my mom’s birthday tomorrow. when i was just a little girl, i used to make really fanciful birthday cards for her. i remember carefully cutting out cards in different shapes and colors, and creating different effects that pop out when you open the card. i also made many ridiculous-looking handicrafts out of cardboard and colored paper.

as i grew older, i made fewer handicrafts. eventually, musical store-bought cards, birthday cakes and meals at restaurants took the place of these gifts.

but this year i decided to make her something just like in the good old days.

Bag charm for my mom

it’s a bag charm (or keychain, for the less informed)! okay that guess clutch bag is mine, but the bag charm has been handmade with love!

the centerpiece is a large gold ribbon that’s all shiny and new and really pretty! a chain of gold loops in alternate sizes is attached to it. at the end of this chain is a silver heart charm that says “MOM”, complete with a diamante stud!

a second gold chain adds a dash of color with two delicate pink swarovski pearls and a cute little pink handbag dangling from it. finally, two precious diamante chains, one in brilliant pink and silver, the other in sparkling white and gold, complete the piece.

happy birthday, mom! you are very much loved!

    3. That is beautiful! I take care of my mother since she has severe arthritis and macular degeneration. She cannot get around well and she doesn’t see much of anything anymore but I know she would love to have something like that. View all comments by Sandieman

    6. Whoa thanks! I get my materials basically from anywhere. eBay, jewelry shops, bead shops, et cetera. I picked up jewelry making on my own. It’s not that hard, really. View all comments by Veron

    9. Wow Veron ! I can see the ‘love’ in the charm ! It looks great and I am sure your mum will like it very much. Ever consider venturing into making your own “Bijoux de Veron” ?
