Awww, that was so sweet. Some of those are very thoughtful, too. :)

I'll share too. Happiness for me is when someone tells me how I haven't changed in years, being myself is important to me.

When someone says I make them laugh and feel good.

Reading a nice handwritten letter from the mail. :D

Seeing my kitties all laid out on my bed in deep sleep, not worried about a thing.

Sitting on the roof late at night after it's rained and breezy. That's so relaxing.

That's just a few. I'll move along now. XP!!

You will know when you are happy. There is no telling when or where you are happy. Doing the things that made you happy once do not mean that you will be happy the next time. Similarly, things which made you angry in the past may make you happy in the future. It all depends on who, where, when, what and how it happens.

yo kelvin, having said all this, do you even have a point? ;)

the things in the list above held for me two years ago and still hold today despite me being a changed person since. note that these are all minute things which are relatively insignificant. i didn't mention a million dollars, popularity, or even an everlasting love, for it's the simplest things in life that make me happy, the very same things that most people either overlook or take for granted.

take a look at the people around you who are relentlessly complaining or feeling stressed over something as meaningless as schoolwork. perhaps it's time such people reflect on themselves, broaden their perspectives and live life to the fullest.

maybe they should compile a happiness list of their own. they would find that some of the things which have been overlooked before are priceless.

yo babe...

Here's something you might be keen to know about. Since ure a fan of the carebears, I thought you'd be interested to know that disney and Blur studios have recently teamed up to make the first 40min full CG Disney animation (like donald duck and friends)

see details
here.

Point is that all things are dynamic. Just that the extent of dynamism is different.

Since you are a changed person, how come the things in the list above held for you two years ago and still hold today? People change, their expections change too.

I guess, yar, people around me are complaining about school work. That's what they are doing now, so it's hardly a surprise I guess. Say a few years down the road, these same people will be complaining about working life. Life in Singapore is like that, at least for most people. I do not like it but I have to admit it.

Listing down on paper the things that matter to you now is a great idea. But that is as good as it can get.

kelvin, i wish you would read more carefully and deeply into what people say, instead of stubbornly hanging on to your own opinion and shutting out all other differing opinions. i apologise in advance if i was wrong to say this, but from all the conversations we've had so far, that's the view i gather. it bothers me because it can get really annoying sometimes.

with regards as to why these things still hold for me two years later despite me being a changed person, well... a person
may change overtime, but sentiments hardly ever. you love your mum, does it mean ten years down the road you ain't gonna?

expectations change, yes. sentiments? hardly. they are the strongest asset of human beings. i think it would be rather sad if feelings can just change in a snap.

a child grows up with a love for eating sweets, cakes, candy, etcetera. chances are, he would remain a sweet-tooth when he reaches adulthood. why? because sentiments are hard to change.

a psychology teacher once taught me this. whenever i do something that makes me feel peaceful, i press my little finger against my thumb. this way the feeling of peace would eventually be "programmed" into the gesture. then during times of stress, i just press my little finger against my thumb to get a little peace. why? because sentiments are very strong and remain in a part of us, whether we like it or not.

they only change for someone who's either weak-minded or fickle-minded.

stress. people like to take the easy way out by pointing their fingers at the singapore government for "cultivating" such a stressful working environment. i only wish they could see that it's all in their attitude. the government is hardly ever going to make any radical changes to make your life less stressful. so face it, the only thing that you can, and should do, is change your attitude. take responsibility for yourself and not say things like "dammit, life in singapore is so damn stressful" or "i wanna migrate to new zealand and rear cows because living here is just too stressful".
