Noah: It's indeed by KiFung as seen in this box shot (<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/inju/663159951/" rel="nofollow">see pic</a>)

Do note that you can't use any of the iPhone features (including the iPod functionality) until it's activated under AT&T. That means there's no point importing it here unless you're willing to subscribe to the AT&T service there to use it here. Hopefully it'll come to Asia soon as a newer generation model with better WAN connectivity.

It's not just me, but I know many friends who are canceling subscriptions with their current mobile provider just to get the iPhone. Sad cause Tmobile's customer service rocks, while AT&T's sucks.

I did some digging on the net.
That PDA is Kifung (???S108.
It has a max external mem. limit of 512MB.
(It says external T-flash mem. Can anyone tell me what's T-flash ?)
Dual band. Has WAP and GPRS only.

What a pity no Wifi.
Otherwise for only $200+, it's really cheap and neat.

Ok... here's the deal:

There are a million and one cool PDA / Smartphones out there which have more functionality and "smart" ideas than iPhone. Many of which are cooler and more appealing. That's an undeniable fact. So to me - they all look the same and its kinda pointless to say one's better than the other.

At the end of the day, the PDA / Smartphone must fit your lifestyle and way you use technology. What's right for me, won't exactly be the right one for you for various reasons. If we all go for the same phone, then the world would be a pretty boring place.

Still... i want an iPhone - cos i'm a Mac Fanboy! :D

Thanks!

For some people, mobile phones are also their organiser, entertainment unit, video recorder, camera all rolled into one. It's just more convenient carrying a single device around. I know of guys who swear by a certain Sony Ericsson phone model that takes excellent pictures so they don't have to carry an additional camera with them.

All mobile phones share the more rudimentary functions of making calls and sending/receiving SMS. Having the various extra functions help differentiate one mobile phone from the next.

Nice blog Veron, very pretty, interesting and fun. I'm just wondering, why do we need cell pones that play videos or have games? I rarely even turn my cell phone on, much less answer it. I did have a Blackberry and admit I was pretty addicted to it for business. Hmmmm, I will have to think this through a bit. I still don't have an Ipod or even know how to download music.

Thanks Kevin. I've added a photo to my post too.

One of these days I should really head down to Sim Lim Square to check out those cheap China phones! Time to get me a pink one in case LG decides to take back the Shine phone.

BTW, I've <a>just added more photos</a> of the other China phones I mentioned, including the candybar phones for girls, the larger iPhone clone which supports two active SIM cards and close-ups of the Pocket PDA phone featured in the video :)

Gasp Veron, didn't think you'd actually put up the video, but thanks. :P

I was just telling Veron how bloggers in other countries collaborate by doing a lots of cross-over blogging (appearing on each other's blogs), while Singaporean bloggers haven't seem to have gotten around it, despite being in a small country where it's easy to meet up.

Just start by calling up your favorite bloggers, chit-chat and when inspiration hits you, record something silly like singing (or lipdubbing) or geeking it out with some tech toy.

Sayonara y'all!
