this has been the most amazing two weeks. all i did was relax, relax, and relax!
i had all the beer in the world (plus that shot of tequila rose i’d missed for such a long time!), saw all the movies i wanted to see (300 was totally awesome. i can watch it again and again!) and visit some of the places i wanted to check out (my secret garden for example. this restaurant is way overrated though).
i paid a visit to little india today. it’s one of the few places that never fail to put me in a totally relaxed holiday mood. everything about it is so colorful and vibrant! it feels like a whole other country. i even saw one of those indian fortune-tellers that use birds to pick out cards. i keep hearing about it and i’m thrilled that i finally got to see it today!
all good things eventually come to an end. for some reason i’m quite positive about what lies ahead. i can’t quite explain this optimism. it is something i haven’t felt in a long while.
my job at HDB starts tomorrow. wish me all the best, people!

Good luck girl… I hope you know what you’re getting yourself into… haha… View all comments by bird
Haha that sure didn’t sound very encouraging! But thanks anyway! View all comments by Veron
haha… i probably don’t sound encouraging, lol… to be more precise… i hope you know what to expect… i have a cousin working in Npark… from the way she described it to me… doesn’t sound exciting… then again, you never know… hehe… regardless, all the best… and i hope you enjoy your work!!! ^)> View all comments by bird
Well when I go to work I’m not exactly expecting daredevil fun and adventure. I think I’ll be fine! Besides, the National Park doesn’t have much to do with my job. View all comments by Veron
all the best! gosh. new job. exciting. heh. btw, did u manage to catch ‘freedom writers’ too? i went with 2 gal pals n needless to say, we all ended up in tears! View all comments by Daphne
Hah. I had never ever been to Little India. I guess that I must be missing out something really big in life! lol.
Anyway, it’s really great to hear that you’re really positive about the new job, new life! Little breaks can do wonder. I can’t wait for my break to come.
All the best. :) View all comments by Huimei
Daphne: Freedom Writers? I haven’t seen that one but I’m gonna!
Huimei: It’s amazing what wonders a break can do. All the best to you too! View all comments by Veron
perhaps… but the working conditions between government establishment tend not to differ much…
anyway… i recall that you seem to be a fan of Mitch Albom’s books… He just came out with a new one called ‘For One More Day’…. perhaps you should go check it out… View all comments by bird
I’m sure many of the civil “servants” reading this blog would beg to differ!
That book has actually been out for some time. The synopsis didn’t really interest me much. So I think I’ll pass on this one! View all comments by Veron
Tequila rose, haha.
Agree with you that Secret Garden is over-rated. But then, few things aren’t over-rated in SG.
300 was good, only in that blood-gore sense. Otherwise a no-brainer, typical popcorn Hollywood glorification of few against many.
Freedom Writers. Writeclique is organizing an outing, not sure if it’s too late but you can try finding out here>> http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WriteClique/
(I’m a member by the way)
History Boys and Because I Say seems to be quite good.
Good luck with the new career! View all comments by Aristocrat

Veron. your optimism is infectious, for sure!
Why? Because although I failed for the third time in my appeal to get a school after my O level, I feel life is actually beginning to offer something to me though I am not sure what.
I can’t quite explain this optimism too. Weird? View all comments by ida
