goes by the name veron. a definitive leo born august 1, 1984. a solo traveler. loves cats, coffee, sensual music, yummy food and technology. when she's not at her job as an IS developer for the government, she's likely to be out dining, or visiting an interesting art gallery or event.
everyone knows that right? here’s something to further add on to that.
seriously, what kind of a sick bastard would do something like that? people kill one another all the time, out of rage, jealousy, for money, love, or what have you. but to dismember an innocent young kitten? it must take a really disturbed freak to do something like that!
jeez, words can’t describe how i feel now. just reading the short article alone makes my blood boil. you know what i would do if i ever see someone dismembering a kitten?
i would seriously give the fella a hard kick in his groin. repeatedly. until he squirms in agony and can’t even scream, as just the act of screaming would induce pain. i would kick him until he can’t stand it no more and collapses onto the ground. i would then stomp on his groin with my sleek stilettos. repeatedly. with the same knife he used to dismember the kitten, i would dismember his dick.
what if it’s not a man, you ask? well i would find a way, still. hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
man, that’s how mad i am right now. my old-time blog readers would remember the incident where i caught another son of a bitch at my block trying to run a cat over with his remote-controlled car. you can read about it over here. the incident happened more than two years ago, and i still remember it vividly.
recalling that incident, reading numerous articles about animal abuse and torment all the time, and now this. i just cannot understand the sick mind of animal abusers. i don’t care how many times they have been abused when they are growing up, or how much violence they have witnessed or are accustomed to, torturing animals for morbid pleasure is just wrong.
the laws over here simply pay no regard for animals. animal abusers are almost never caught. even the ones that do, they either get away with a stern warning, or spend a number of weeks in jail for torturing and killing an animal. people seem to readily accept that animal abuse takes place and let these bastards get away scot-free. to those people who have witnessed animal abuse and never did anything to stop it, they are no better than the perpetrator himself!
yeah, if you can’t tell by now, i am damn pissed off right now. jesus. i wish i could do something. just anything at all. the apathy and self-centeredness that singaporeans display is really getting on my nerves. the genuinely nice ones (like that old malay lady you see every morning) who feed stray cats in the neighborhood are ostracised, verbally abused even, simply for their display of kindness towards animals. people in general think that we shouldn’t feed stray cats because they would just breed and multiply and populate the neighborhood.
do you know that most stray cats around here have been neutered and therefore can’t breed anymore? next time you see a cat, look closely at its left ear. it should be slightly chipped, an indication that it cannot reproduce anymore. by ostracising or preventing people from feeding cats, it only results in starving these poor animals who are perfectly harmless. isn’t this an act of cruelty as well?
for those who have cat-phobia and are so sure that cats would follow them at their heels if they came too close, get over yourself! cats are independent creatures who wouldn’t care less about following anyone unless they really like you!
please, if you haven’t, treat animals with a bigger and kinder heart. give the neighborhood cat a gentle stroke of its fur (cats are mighty clean animals). report animal abuse and teach that son of a bitch a lesson should you ever find one in the act of animal cruelty. whatever good you do would return to you in kind.
too many of us have stayed too quiet for too long. it’s time all of us do our bit to make this world a better place!

I know how you feel. I’m a cat lover myself, and it hurts to know that some people could do things like that to an innocent kitten.
There are tons of cats in my neighbourhood. There’s a woman who lives on the street behind me that has about half a billion (I could be exaggerating, though…) orange cats who like to use our garage to hide and have their kittens in. I, myself, don’t mind the kittens, but as many cats as she has, she should’ve spayed/neutered them for their own good. We rescued a litter once. They were so aggresive and mean when we first caged them. Kept them in a roomy cage inside our main room so they quickly got use to us passing the cage, eventually sticking our fingers through to pet, and by the time we gave them away 2 weeks later, they were absolute hug addicts. Never wanted to be put down. ^_^ Best feeling in the world to know you made a stray kitten a happy one.
But all the same, I have 4 dogs, and one evening I let them out into the yard (half our backyard is closed off, so they can’t get into garage) and a kitten had gotten caught in their pen. I didn’t know there was a litter out, so I didn’t think to check outside first. I honestly tried to save it, but I didn’t know my dogs could be so brutal. My dogs suffocated it, and I wound up with bites and scratches all over my hands and legs. My mom was so apathetic, telling me it happens. It didn’t HAVE to happen if she had trained her dogs not to chase them. :( View all comments by Mandy

Wow Mandy, you are one animal lover! Four dogs in the same house! I can’t imagine it ever being boring living at your place.
It’s sad to hear that your dogs suffocated a kitten. Well I guess you can’t stop animal instinct. I’m sure if it was a tiny mouse trapped in a cat litter, it would have suffered a similar fate.

yo vegetarian, i guess it really depends on how the animals are being treated before they are slaughtered. i just read an article that talks about the pain and torture animals (including fish, prawns, et cetera) go through in their dying seconds. these animals are bred solely for food, so people don’t think twice about treating them inhumanely.

torturing animals are so much better than humans right? just within this year, 2 case of forceful imprisonment for a few years was reported.
I saw strait times(sep21 2006) and saw the orange cat today. so cute, it looked just like garfield. Think purple would looked like Lilo and Stitched. (and that was how I found this site)

Oh I just thought about it, this is another ridiculous point, Malay aunty can fit the cat, but do you know how many people are hungry in the world at the moment right now? Do you know that 80% of the world income is controlled by 20% of the world populations? We got money to feed cat, but no money to feed our fellow human beings, so who is more cruel? Marxist Exploitations theory is at work.
Do you know that US refused to sign the koyoto protocol, and that the energy consumations per capita is the highest in the world? Imagine cities without clean water, sanitary services, or proper shelter? they are all within our neighbourhood. Imagine people, scientist, who know it is wrong but are still doing it. Bleaching of fish is common, water way pollutions, oil spill in China. What are all the FAT cat in the world doing? What the hell does Bill Gate needs so much money. Google earn less than M$ yet revolutionize the entire Internet.
So what is a cat? Garfield are always evil to Odin. cats requires so terrible lots of attentions.

this post reminded me of something I saw on a gourmet video or something.
This cook scaled a fish while it was alive (skinned alive, poor fish), then wrapped the head in a towel, held it by the towel wrapping the head and dipped the lower body of the fish into boiling oil.
After the lower body has been done frying in the oil, the fish is served on a plate where its mouth is still moving but with a body that has been cooked. That’s the notion of “fresh”.
