Look What I Got for 8 Bucks…

the special illustrated edition of the da vinci code, hardcover to boot!

The Da Vinci Code, Special Illustrated Edition

if you are a fan of the da vinci code like i am, you have probably been eyeing this beautiful collector’s edition of the novel for the longest time. its hefty price tag of 49 bucks would turn many people off. freaking 49 bucks! but today, i bought this book at just 8 bucks! waaaaa! what a steal!

guess where in the world i found it!

kidding! i got it from the MPH book sale at the singapore expo! most of the books were going at 5 bucks or 8 bucks. all brand new, including several international bestsellers!

The Da Vinci Code, Special Illustrated Edition

while reading the regular version of the da vinci code, you would probably find yourself scouring the internet for pictures of the numerous paintings, symbols, architecture, and historic locations that the story makes several references to throughout.

The Da Vinci Code, Special Illustrated Edition

this special illustrated version saves you a lot of time by having all the pictorial references and photographs conveniently appended to the text in full color!

Angels and Demons, Special Illustrated Edition

also spotted at the book sale: the special illustrated edition of angels and demons, another timeless classic by dan brown. 8 bucks too! if you have yet to read either of these great books, this is the sign that you should. now go get them!

Books I bought at the book fair

here are all the books i bought, clockwise from top left:

  • Dan Brown - The Da Vinci Code, Special Illustrated Edition, Hardcover ($8)
  • Dan Brown - Angels and Demons, Special Illustrated Edition, Hardcover ($8)
  • Michael Crichton - Next, Hardcover ($8)
  • Mitch Albom - Tuesdays with Morrie ($5)
  • Stephen King - The Green Mile ($5)
  • James Patterson - Cross ($8)
  • James Patterson - Mary, Mary ($6)

in fact, many of the hottest books can be found at the book sale going really cheaply. people were buying them in cartons! for all the bookworms out there, this is one sale really worth checking out! it takes place this weekend at the singapore expo. bring along a trolley, a luggage bag, or a strong man.

    3. Hey Veron, good to see you back! Hope you have fully recovered. Thought you went away for the Hari Raya holiday and didn’t bear to come back!! Great books you got there. Tuesday with Morrie is lovely…I wanna go but Expo is not exactly convenient and I have so much work backlog to complete over the weekend. Plus I still have plenty of books that I haven’t start on since the last book fair (which was at Suntec). View all comments by Joyz

    5. welcome bk 2 work - soon.. on monday, V! :)

Angels & Demons is going 2 b interesting. The one only thing with this edition it seems, though, is the cover art didn’t include the oroiginal title design that is specifically drawn as an ambigram, which is the central element of this book. In fact, Robert Langdon is actually named after the designer, John Langdon, who created the artwork for Dan Brown’s Angels & Demons.

ambigrams, very fascinating artwork.. quite difficult 2 get very good at..

Can I borrow the book, V? :-O View all comments by J

    7. uhhh. i only go to libraries for books. haha…!! :) i dont usually re-read, so it’s kind of a waste… there are so many books in the library that i will never finish reading them anyway heh…

i don’t mind paying $1.50 to reserve a new book i want to read, rather than paying $20 to own a brand new book, and never touch it after one read… View all comments by Daphne Maia

    8. I don’t read Dan Brown books, but hey, you pointed out a book sale!

How come I’m not aware of this one. ;-)

Anyway, looks like there’s still some time left now to rush down… but where’s the catch for the cheap sale?
