calling all night owls! if you’re looking for a nice supper place to grab some chow, you can visit the 24-hour mr. teh tarik cartel!
24-hour eateries are not that common here. so when one opens, it always excites me. (even when mcdonald’s did it, it made me so happy.) recently, a new mr. teh tarik cartel outlet opened at tiong bahru plaza. i have eagerly paid a few visits ever since.
as the name suggests, you can find teh tarik here plus a gazillion other drinks. there’s milo dinosaur, teh halia (ginger tea), various ice blended drinks, just to name a few. read my earlier post to find out more!
perhaps mr. teh tarik is more well known for the vast variety of drinks. but do you know that they whip up many yummy dishes to go along too?
one of my favorite muslim dishes is the roti john. most of the time, it is served with plenty of chili sauce. unless the chili sauce tastes funny, you can’t really go wrong with this.
at mr. teh tarik, the roti john is served with very delicious chili sauce AND creamy mayonnaise too. simply sedap (yummy)! this additional condiment makes a world of difference.
plus, the way they squeeze it in a cute checkered pattern over the french bread is just neat!
oh by the way, if you aren’t too familiar with the roti john, check out my earlier writeup on how it came about and got its name. it’s pretty interesting!

of course, there’s also nasi briyani for people that prefer eating rice rather than bread. we had asked for our chicken to be deep fried. it turned out pretty well, although i would still go for roti john any day!
so, for those of you looking for a late night supper place, you now have another option! that’s great for all of us, right?

Hi Veron, I enjoy reading your blog and the colours of your website is just so sweet and dreamy…
Can you suggest a nice place for some ladies’ intimate get-together high tea session which serves buffet style? View all comments by Se
That Chicken Briyani is making me salivate. Food in Singapore looks absolutely excellent!

krisandro: Yay! Another roti john lover! This dish is well underrated.
Se: Thanks! I do know of a few great places that ladies would love to hang out at, but alas, no buffet! If you aren’t too particular about having a buffet, here are a few places with great ambience and decent food:
- The Cookie Museum (formerly known as The V Tea Room)
- Royal Copenhagen Tea Lounge
- Tea Cosy @ Eclectic Attic
- Max Brenner (a little noisy at times though)
Do a search here for my reviews on them. Have fun!
Peko Peko: Thanks! People in Singapore are crazy about Japanese food too :) View all comments by Veron

I am a big fan of teh tarik ever since I moved to Singapore four years ago, but I haven’t been able to find a place where it caters well to that beverage. It is also nice to know this place is somewhat near where I live. Thanks for the recommendation.
By the way, I am a first time commentor, even though I have visited your site numerous times. Great design, and I love how you cater all your posts to promoting Singapore. I have learned a lot more things about this place (especially in regards to eating places) while going through your site. Thanks! View all comments by Id
Thanks Id. It’s always great to know that someone finds my blog posts useful. I tend to focus on writing about eating establishments or events in Singapore, because these are the things that interest me the most and sometimes I stumble across something that a lot of people out there may not know of. This blog provides a good medium to spread the word :) View all comments by Veron
