i had a sudden rush of inspiration today and couldn’t wait to lay my hands on my jewelry-making tools. what i had in mind was an asymmetrical charm necklace that would look unique and quirky, yet elegant at the same time. so i sat down and got busy with my charms and chains until i came up with this.

this necklace is a combination of three chains in black, copper and gold, all of different lengths and links. they are connected at the side via a delicate gold ring and it took me pretty long to get the lengths right. the star of this charm necklace is an impish little spider. he’s a cute and shiny little guy i brought back from bangkok, and i absolutely love him to bits! the little imp rests on one side of the necklace, along with a chain of pretty little stars, puffed heart and a sparkling diamante stud.

in fact i loved the necklace so much i decided to go ahead and make a whole series that would form “my magical garden”. part two of my magical garden is helmed by an intricate gold butterfly. i call her “flittery flutter”.

i can’t really decide who i love more! but it is getting late, so i would stop at two for now. i have plans to make part three, which would feature something else. yay!

Oh that spider -is- absolutely gorgeous! I have a small hair pin with a silver spider on it that looks amazingly similar. And I love the look of the necklace, with the charms hanging off the side like that. Entirely unique. Good job! :D
Does it stay in place like that or does the weight eventually twist it so the charms are hanging at the bottom? View all comments by Mandy
Wow amazing coincidence there with the spider! Anyway I had my worries about the weight of the charms too. But somehow they manage to stay on the side the way I want it and haven’t slipped to the bottom yet. Still, I would have to wear it out tomorrow to be 100% sure.

I guess u never run out of ideas, huh? Even if it’ll slide down, I know what to do. I can really imagine how it’s gonna look on my wife. You’re great, Veron. Never thought u could pull something like that. Creatively exquisite! View all comments by lancelot
Thanks! Well I’ve been wearing it the whole morning and it stays in its place. Phew! View all comments by Veron
That spider looks creepy to me.
It seems wrong to have a glitery spider instead of an all-black pure menace one…
Maybe it’s just me…But fantastic piece of work again. Have a category for Jewellery and you can start doing business by advertising on your weblog. Money while you blog… View all comments by Aristocrat
Boy, between a glittery spider and a black menace, i would take the glittery one any day! I should probably start selling my stuff, but I’m afraid nobody buys ‘em! View all comments by Veron
I think you are too modest of your own skills. Try a little advertising through your friends and build a network of customers by word-of-mouth. If you pass the litmus test of your friends, my guess is that you would be good enough to take on more.
Even your weblog readers approve of it. & more importantly, nothing lost in trying - worst comes to worst you only get to keep more trinkets (which I don’t think you mind!)… View all comments by Aristocrat
Yup!Yup! I’ll make the first order! Very soon. View all comments by lancelot

Thanks for the encouragement, Aristocrat. You are right; I have nothing to lose by making and selling my jewelry. So, my plan is to continue making those jewelry and posting them on my blog, with a price tag attached. If anybody wants it, great! Otherwise I would just wear it myself =) View all comments by Veron
Looking forward to receiving your order, lancelot! View all comments by Veron
Yup sofia, food and jewelry - two of my greatest loves! View all comments by Veron
Hey Angeline, you should! Most jewelry sold in stores don’t look that great. It’s best if you made your own. View all comments by Veron
I prefer the little spider one. The butterfly’s a little to big to me. But I love the idea that you put the “pendants” on the right :D View all comments by Joey
