i had dinner with danny at niqqi’s the cheese prata shop. it’s been a long while since i’ve been there even though it’s so near the campus, whereas the dude goes there practically everyday. i am beginning to love the indian stall though. actually i love indian food, and muslim food too.

that’s the roti prata plaster. the indian seller spent some time explaining what it was. in the end i didn’t really get it. i guess it’s just egg wrapped in roti prata. it was good!

sardine murtabak. it looked pretty much like roti prata though. never actually tried any kind of murtabak before. and i’m not even sure whether i got the spelling right. it was yummy too, with sardines and onions wrapped within and all. i happen to like onions a lot.

and that’s roti john! i loved it! i think the next time i go back there, i’m definitely ordering it again. the chili sauce definitely helped. yummy yum yum.

their milo dinosaur could do with some improvement though. i believe they didn’t put in enough milo powder. is milo powder that expensive? the drink was supposed to be saturated with milo powder, but it turned out being too bland for my liking. probably after trying the best dinosaur at al-azhar along upper bukit timah road, nothing else compares. oh yeah the book in the background is “one planet” released by lonely planet. it’s filled with nice travel photographs taken from all over the world. and i think it deserves another blog entry altogether.
after all the food, we went to check out the new national library. even though we went pretty late, the trip was totally worth it. the book collection was rather disappointing actually, but the building itself wasn’t. with thirteen storeys, there was much to explore.

the imagination room and possibility room listed at level five pretty much got our curiosity. i think we spent some time in the lifts though, going up and down the building a few times after closing hours. it was cool actually. the lifts moved so fast you could feel the sensation. and somehow we ended up on the fourteenth floor when we thought there were only thirteen. got a pretty good aerial view from there. on the fifth floor, there was a cosy looking courtyard and a local art gallery. didn’t manage to get to the imagination and possibility rooms though as it was after closing hours.

the han’s café at level one was nice. the menu items were reasonably priced and the place seemed to have adopted an airport theme. the best thing of all? there’s free wireless internet to enjoy over nice fries and a cup of hot chocolate. the national library seems really peaceful at night. i think it’s gonna be one of my favorite hangouts to do work next time.
feeling a little down actually. was showing danny my past blog layouts and for the first time, i realised i have basically gone downhill after version 2. i don’t even like this current layout. but i have no idea how to make a better looking one.
obviously that isn’t the only thing bothering me. a lot of stuff have been happening recently and it does feel like i have too much to handle. 24 hours a day is barely even enough. people don’t know how bothered i am. i don’t tell anyone. i don’t let myself depend on anyone. i’m just trying to do the best i can on my own, bit by bit. yet sometimes people just don’t understand my position despite repeated explanations, and instead assume things about me thinking they know me very well. they give me more trouble when i already have too much on my hands. to such people, i use the same old line again. i shall just stop caring about you. and i will do it.
the hong kong trip would do great. that’s one of the bright sparks in my life right now. and i know by the time i return, i would be stronger and happier than i am right now.

v2 layout was my favourite one too… the first time i landed on your blog was probably a day or two before version 3 came out.
maybe to you it isn’t the best layout around, i’d say its more of being expressively honest - putting your mood and general feelings into the layout. and that really matters.
one planet book is good. one of the books i look at for inspiration. worth every cent. otherwise, there is always pbase and photo.net for outstanding photography related material on the net.
i see that you’ll be celebrating your 21st whilst in hong kong. don’t forget to bring your baby tripod to get some good shots of the scenery at night. in the meantime, Hope to see you within the next 9 days time. =D View all comments by alwyn
oh yeah alwyn. i don’t know why it didn’t hit me that after v2, i put actual emotions into each of my layouts. geez, how could i forget that? thanks for reminding me man. it seems weird though. the more expressive layouts are the uglier ones. that’s kinda sad.
the baby tripod! i don’t think i had ever tried using it before. heck, i’ll bring it along in any case. so far none of my night shots or shots taken in the dark look decent. View all comments by Veron
