okay i decided the james blunt album had been playing in the jukebox (top right hand corner) for long enough. the jukebox has now been updated with ten brand new tracks for a total of 38.7 minutes. do note that the song stops playing once you navigate to another page. so if you would like to sample all ten songs continuously, please stay on one fixed page.
1. Amos Lee — Colors: in fitting with the soft purples of this layout, i pick a just-as-soothing tune for the opening track. there is some very thoughtful lyrics in “colors”, along with amos lee’s soulful, sincere singing and gentle acoustic sounds. [lyrics]
2. Corinne Bailey Rae — Enchantment: i really like corinne bailey rae. her debut r&b album is fantastic and currently on replay mode on my ipod. it’s easy to get lost in her voice. turn out the lights, get rid of all other distractions and listen to “enchantment”. you’ll see what i mean. [lyrics]
3. The Clientele — (I Can’t Seem To) Make You Mine: i saw the lake house, starring sandra bullock and keanu reeve. when the opening number came on i was immediately charmed by this pretty tune. tracks number 3 to 5 are all from the movie, simply because i love it so much (a rarity since i’m hardly a fan of romance flicks). [lyrics]
4. Carole King — It’s Too Late: this song came from her 1971 album tapestry. it’s pretty old so i don’t know how many people would like it. this is one of those “sit down and relax” kind of song and has a light-hearted feel to it. i enjoy it. [lyrics]
5. Paul McCartney — This Never Happened Before: simply beautiful tune. in the movie this plays when kate and alex dance at her birthday party. that must be one of the most beautiful scenes i’ve ever seen in a movie. [lyrics]
6. Martina Topley-Bird — Sandpaper Kisses: i like sensual, ambient music such as this. martina topley-bird has a sultry, and somewhat haunting voice. may not appeal to everyone. [lyrics]
7. Calla — Stumble: i’m not sure how many people have heard of calla. they are an indie band that play moody alternative rock. this song can be heard in one of the veronica mars episodes. [i can't locate the lyrics for this. if anyone finds it please let me have it!]
8. Anna Nalick — Catalyst: this song features some real heart-breaking lyrics. “God, don’t know if I’m strong enough now. You’ll be the vein, you’ll be the pain, you’ll be the Catalyst.” [lyrics]
9. The Rolling Stones — Laugh, I Nearly Died: i absolutely love the lyrics in this one. i’m not a huge rolling stones fan but this track is one of those classics that i can listen to over and over again. there is a very manly feel to this song. yet another aching ballad with brilliant lyrics. [lyrics]
10. Sia — Breathe Me [Four Tet Remix]: i fell in love with breathe me the instant i heard it. yes, it is that seductive. but i picked its remixed version for the closing track instead. an awesome sound. [lyrics]
that’s all we have, folks. sit back and enjoy!
lyrics
Yesterday I got lost in the circus
Feeling like such a mess
And now I’m down I’m just hanging on the corner
I can’t help but reminisce
Cos when you’re gone
All the colors fade
When you’re gone
No new year’s day parade
You’re gone
Colors seem to fade
Your mama called, she said that you’re downstairs crying
Feeling like such a mess
Yeah I hear ya in the background bawling
What happened to your sweet summertime dress?
I know we all
We all got our faults
We get locked in our vaults
And we stay
When you’re gone
All the colors fade
When you’re gone
No new year’s day parade
You’re gone
Colors seem to fade
Colors seem to fade
I wait for you
I don’t know why
All I know is I can’t hide
At this temperature you could take over my mind
Like gossamer, you softly touch
He draws me in, I’m powerless
He possesses an enchantment
Tell me I’m forgiven
He calls, don’t know how I fell under his spell
Lately I’ve been driven
He smiles, an enchantment
I wait for you
I’m mesmerised, this love is like a potion in disguise
I’d tightrope walk with a blindfold on my eyes
I can’t escape, or so it seems
I’d run away, he’s in my dreams
He possesses an enchantment
Tell me I’m forgiven
He calls, don’t know how I fell under his spell
Lately I’ve been driven
He smiles, an enchantment
It’s the kind of sleepwalk that never ends
A type of loan with no dividends
It’s a parlor game where you’re given chase
Guess it could be called an acquired taste
I know, he knows. He calls, I go. I know
This could be an enchantment
Why don’t you tell me I’m forgiven?
He calls, don’t know how I fell under his spell
I’m forgiven
Lately I’ve been driven
He smiles and I give in
An enchantment
In the silence of the garden
Moss arising on the wind
And the beast is pondering love, love, love
‘Til the rusty nail grow dim
I can’t seem to make you mine
Through the long and lonely night
And I try so hard, darling
But the crowd pulled you away
Through the rhythm and the rain
And the ivy coiled around my hand
So I lingered with the people
In the silent August glade
But the rain has brought the night
And the night has brought the rain
I can’t seem to make you mine
Through the long and lonely night
And I try so hard, darling
But the crowd pulled you away
Through the rhythm and the rain
And the ivy coiled around my hand
Stayed in bed all morning just to pass the time
There’s something wrong here, there can be no denying
One of us is changing
Or maybe we just stopped trying
And it’s too late, baby, now it’s too late
Though we really did try to make it
Something inside has died
And I can’t hide and I just can’t fake it, oh no
It used to be so easy living here with you
You were light and breezy and I knew just what to do
Now you look so unhappy and I feel like a fool
And it’s too late, baby, now it’s too late
Though we really did try to make it
Something inside has died
And I can’t hide and I just can’t fake it, oh no
There’ll be good times again for me and you
But we just can’t stay together, don’t you feel it too
Still I’m glad for what we had and how I once loved you
But it’s too late, baby, now it’s too late
Though we really did try to make it
Something inside has died and I can’t hide
And I just can’t fake it, oh no
I’m very sure, this never happened to me before
I met you and now I’m sure
This never happened before
Now I see, this is the way it’s supposed to be
I met you and now I see
This is the way it should be
This is the way it should be for lovers
They shouldn’t go it alone
It’s not so good when you’re on your own
So come to me, now we can be what we want to be
I love you and now I see
This is the way it should be
This is the way it should be
This is the way it should be for lovers
They shouldn’t go it alone
It’s not so good when you’re on your own
I’m very sure, this never happened to me before
I met you and now I’m sure
This never happened before (this never happened before)
This never happened before (this never happened before)
This never happened before (this never happened before)
This never happened before
Sandpaper kisses, papercut bliss
Don’t know what this is, but it all leads to this
You’re gonna leave her
You have deceived her
Just a girl
Oh just a girl with featherweight curls
To expose all she knows you play like tease
Just a girl with featherweight curls
To expose all she knows you play like tease
You’re gonna leave her
You have deceived her
Just a girl
I want the soul of something simple to take home with me
The world as some place simple it’s my home you see
You’re gonna leave her
You have deceived her
Just a girl, a blood red pearl
L.A. lights never shine quite as bright as in the movies
Still wanna go?
Cos something here
In the way, in the way that we’re constantly moving
Reminds you of home
So you’re taking these pills
For to fill up your soul
And you’re drinking them down with cheap alcohol
And I’d be inclined to be yours for the taking
And part of this terrible mess that you’re making
But me, I’m the catalyst
When you say love is a simple chemical reaction
Can’t say I agree
Cos my chemical, yeah, left me a beautiful disaster
Still love’s all I see
So I’m taking these pills for to fill up my soul
And I’m drinking them down with cheap alcohol
And you’d be inclined to be mine for the taking
And part of this terrible mess that I’m making
But you, you’re the catalyst
You’ll be the vein
You’ll be the pain
You’ll be the scar
You’ll be the road, rolling below
The wheels of a car
And all of the thoughts, on God
Don’t know if I’m strong enough now
You’ll be the vein
You’ll be the pain
You’ll be the
Catalyst
I’ve been traveling but I don’t know where
I’ve been missing you but you just don’t care
And I’ve been wandering, I’ve seen Greece and Rome
Lost in the wilderness, so far from home
Yeah, yeah
I’ve been to Africa, looking for my soul
And I feel like an actor looking for a role
I’ve been in Arabia, I’ve seen a million stars
Been sipping champagne on the boulevards, yeah
I’m so sick and tired
Trying to turn the tide, yeah
So I’ll say my goodbye
Laugh, laugh
I nearly died
I’ve been down to India, but it froze my bones
I’m living for the city, but I’m all alone
I’ve been traveling, but I don’t know where
I’ve been wandering, but I just don’t care
I hate to be denied
How you hurt my pride
I feel pushed aside
But laugh, laugh, laugh
I nearly died
Been traveling far and wide
Wondering who’s going to be my guide
Living in a fantasy but it’s way too far
But this kind of loneliness is way too hard
I’ve been wandering, feeling all alone
I lost my direction and I lost my home, well
I’m so sick and tired
Now I’m on the side
Feeling so despised
When you laugh, laugh
I almost died
(Been traveling far and wide
Wondering who’s gonna be my guide)
I hurt my pride, hurt my pride, hurt my pride (Been traveling far and wide)
Been traveling, yeah
(Been traveling far and wide
Wondering who’s gonna be my guide)
(Been traveling far and wide)
Help, I have done it again
I have been here many times before
Hurt myself again today
And the worst part is there’s no one else to blame
Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I’m needy
Warm me up
And breathe me
Ouch, I have lost myself again
Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found,
Yeah I think that I might break
Lost myself again and I feel unsafe
Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I’m needy
Warm me up
And breathe me
Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I’m needy
Warm me up
And breathe me

Hi! I noticed you liked The Lake House and I was looking for the song that plays at the end when the credits start rolling. It goes Baby, baby, baby… do you know which one I mean? I would be glad if you could tell me the name of the song and artist. Thank you! You have a beautiful website! View all comments by Julie
