on my way home at about 10pm, i discovered a cardboard box at my void deck. it had a tiny kitten sleeping within! he couldn’t have been more than 3 or 4 days old as his eyes weren’t open and his umbilical cord was still visible.
after accompanying him a couple more hours to see if mother cat returns, i brought the kitty home! mom was clearly unhappy about it, but he most probably wouldn’t make it through the night if i had left him cold and abandoned at the void deck.

the kitten had patches (like a cow’s!) and the most beautiful long tail! i still can’t decide whether he’s grey and white or black and white. but it doesn’t matter because i’m gonna try to help him survive anyway.
such newborn kittens need to drink their mummy’s milk every two hours, or a certain milk formula available at pet stores. but it’s already past midnight so i couldn’t get any of those stuff. luckily, kuanzhong gave me a whole bunch of advice on taking care of the kitty. it’s great to know an animal lover who knows what to do at such times. and he assured me that i did the right thing by bringing the kitty home.
he said i should try to keep the kitty as warm as possible, by stacking more towels and placing bottles of warm water underneath. i should also simulate the cat mother’s heartbeat by placing my doraemon alarm clock beside the kitty. it worked! the kitty is now cuddled at the clock and the warm bottle. yay!
and without the milk formula, i can only feed him water for the time being. but he’s refusing to drink the water and i’m damn worried about this. i’m worried sick that he won’t be able to make it through the night. ain’t gonna sleep at all this entire night.
this is the first time ever that i felt so responsible for another life. i never had a real pet before other than a pet turtle. so right now i’m pretty scared.
people, please pray for my kitty okay? i need him to survive the night until i get the milk formula and other supplies from the pet shop tomorrow!

Awwww!! He’s absolutely gorgeous, those markings!! How could someone just leave him out like that?! It is a good thing you brought him home, even if he’s being stubborn about eating. At least he’s not cold and alone outside.
Good luck with kitty-kitty!! View all comments by Mandy
