Unfortunately, this is not Pontian Wanton Mee. It is using the name of Pontian, but if anyone of you been to Pontian and taste the local made you will understand what I meant.

The differences are:
1) No fried wanton, all wanton are soupy
2) No vege but only chopped spring onions
3) The noodle is thinner

I have been eating Pontian Wantan Mee for more than 25 years, and I could straight away tell the difference from pictures. However I do thank them for making the name of Pontian Wanton Mee famous.

If you guys like this wanton mee, you should definitely try out the genuine Pontian Wanton Mee in Pontian. You’ll get addicted! View all comments by Puntin Kiah

the shop in heeren (graffiti cafe) is closed now due to the contract that has expired. too sad that was a famous shop once in orchard road with all the fans of the cafe hope that they can open one in orchard road again:) View all comments by articdemon

The wanton noodles is really good but i like the boiled wantons better because they just tast better than the fried onces, also if you like wanton noodles go to China they have alot of good foods there. View all comments by Lisa

it’s amazing tt i’ve not tried the pontian wanton mee despite having lived in tp all my life, though the coffeeshop is considered relatively new compared to the years i’ve lived there. instead i had a rather unpleasant experience dining at the sarawak kolo mee shop at blk 190 inside the row of shops facing ya kun. it was dry n bland n i think i’d rather have maggi mee instead. definitely not value for money as well. Haha! I think it’s one of those places that you probably wouldn’t notice if someone hadn’t mentioned it already.

I love the sweet sauce used by Pontian. Just had wanton mee from another stall at ABC Market last night which was cooked differently. The sauce was salty instead. I wasn’t impressed, and found myself preferring the sweet sauce overall. View all comments by Veron

Dennis: Wow, that’s 2 recommendations for the stall at Amoy Food Centre. It must be really good!

Aristocrat: Good! The one I feature here is in Toa Payoh Central. Looking at the other comments, it seems they have branches in a few other places too. But probably only the Toa Payoh branch is good.

I love wanton mee. Its one of my favourite kind of noodles. Must try to Pontian Wanton Mee of Sparklette fame. The one at Old Airport Road with the fancy computerised queue number isn’t too bad, as well as Kok Kee at Lavendar Food Square. Personally, I prefer the wantons to be boiled rather than fried. There is one at Redhmill hawker centre but wasnt that nice. I have tried Heeren’s too and its better. Wanton Mee is one of my favourite local dishes.
