Spiders are "much" cuter? No way! What good are they when you can't even hug them? *lol*

I must fulfill my lifelong wish of hugging a real penguin.

Wow Veron! Glad that you enjoyed your time spent at Jurong Birdpark. Penguins are indeed cute! But spiders are definitely much cuter. ;p

Do you think the Penguin in Batman is cute?
He got a huge appetite for fish ....

Hi Veron! Wow.. thx for the Birdpark pic! It's really been a long long since I last been to the Birdpark! LOL... Looks like they have changed quite a bit...

Btw, I always wonder why the penguin's belly will not be painful when they 'belly walk'! LOL...

I loves talking birds! But usually we only get to hear parrots talk. My grandma used to keep a stray talking mynah! The mynah makes catcalls to ladies (due to bad influences, lol)! And it flew back a couple of times when it was set free. Then one day it left and never came back. How I wish to see talking mynah again...

haha i came up with that joke... ^^

I was there last Saturday.

As for price, I can't believe they charge an additional $4 to take the panorail, but you can only go 1 round. That's silly.

No problem! Yup, the $16 admission fee puts me off too. But looking at how well-maintained the bird park is, the costs behind it can't be cheap.

Besides, it's not a place you would go everyday! Spending $16 once in a long while to see these colorful and cute creatures isn't too bad.

I was there last week too! Took some pictures but havent had time to post them up.

The story that tickled me most was the one where two vultures from northern India flew off their migratory path, got lost and somehow ended up in flying around in Orchard Road, Singapore, 10 yrs ago. Then too tired so kenna caught and brought to the Bird Park.

Vulture 1 to 2: "See la. Tell you take group tour dowan. Free and easy, summore...wtf."

Thanks for the long comment!

At least you know that the Emperors and Kings are two separate species! I was looking at the King Penguins at the bird park, admiring them, all this while thinking they were Emperor Penguins! I even wondered to myself, why on earth do documentaries claim they are 1.2 meters tall when they are much shorter than that?

Knut is growing up fast! Last I heard (from chillycraps), he's no longer cute anymore :(

Those cassowaries looked nasty! All they had to do was quietly walk about in their enclosures, and I could already sense that that was one creature I wouldn't want to mess with.

Boy, your knowledge about birds (or possibly all animals) is amazing! Hats off to ya. Thanks for the bit on the sun conure. I have updated my post.

Great post! I enjoy reading these posts of yours. Kind of shows how Singaporeans always complain that there's nothing to do, when in fact there are all these interesting places to visit.

I also always had problems telling emperor penguins apart from king penguins. But after watching Happy Feet and spending a lot of time looking at photos of the 2 species, I can tell the difference already.

I wonder if it's possible to combine 2 of your favourites in 1 enclosure - Knut and penguins. Don't think it'd last very long though. =D

Those smaller birds with the macaws at the photography corner are another species of parrot called the sun conure.

Cassowaries are badass birds; they have been known to kill people with their lethal kicks.

And yes, snowy owls are so cool. I've read before how Harry Potter has made a lot of people want to keep owls as pets, even though it takes a really dedicated and responsible owner to keep them.

I guess I ought to visit the BirdPark soon myself; haven't been there in a number of years.
