Yeah.. I did see a couple of penguins here in down under… but those are small ones.. too bad the pic didn’t turn out well, as they are behind the glass … so deleted the pic.. but, check out the Taronga zoo in Syd!

I loves talking birds! But usually we only get to hear parrots talk. My grandma used to keep a stray talking mynah! The mynah makes catcalls to ladies (due to bad influences, lol)! whn my bf moves back to NTU after his attachment ends, i shall make him bring me to the bird park! haha. the waterfall looks real pretty.

im not a big bird fan but the colors of their feathers look really brilliant, n i DO like bright colors.. haha..

No problem! Yup, the $16 admission fee puts me off too. But looking at how well-maintained the bird park is, the costs behind it can’t be cheap.

havent been there since i was a child :x
but as a student, i find the entrance fee placed at $16 really abit expensive, so i’ve been pushing the idea back ):
but since looking at the pictures you taken, the flame within has started burining again, HAHA! :D

I was there last week too! Took some pictures but havent had time to post them up.

The story that tickled me most was the one where two vultures from northern India flew off their migratory path, got lost and somehow ended up in flying around in Orchard Road, Singapore, 10 yrs ago. Then too tired so kenna caught and brought to the Bird Park.

At least you know that the Emperors and Kings are two separate species! I was looking at the King Penguins at the bird park, admiring them, all this while thinking they were Emperor Penguins! I even wondered to myself, why on earth do documentaries claim they are 1.2 meters tall when they are much shorter than that?

Knut is growing up fast! Last I heard (from chillycraps), he’s no longer cute anymore :(

Those cassowaries looked nasty! All they had to do was quietly walk about in their enclosures, and I could already sense that that was one creature I wouldn’t want to mess with.

Great post! I enjoy reading these posts of yours. Kind of shows how Singaporeans always complain that there’s nothing to do, when in fact there are all these interesting places to visit.

I also always had problems telling emperor penguins apart from king penguins. But after watching Happy Feet and spending a lot of time looking at photos of the 2 species, I can tell the difference already.

I wonder if it’s possible to combine 2 of your favourites in 1 enclosure - Knut and penguins. Don’t think it’d last very long though. =D

Those smaller birds with the macaws at the photography corner are another species of parrot called the sun conure.

Cassowaries are badass birds; they have been known to kill people with their lethal kicks.

And yes, snowy owls are so cool. I’ve read before how Harry Potter has made a lot of people want to keep owls as pets, even though it takes a really dedicated and responsible owner to keep them.
