sparklette.net on iPhone!

thanks to paddy of bak2u, a group of us geeks and bloggers were treated to an exclusive private viewing of the apple iphone recently.

currently, the iphone is only available to the US market. bak2u develops anti-theft software for various laptops and mobile phones. so in order to have the software ready for the iphone before it hits the asian market next year, paddy paid a bomb to import a few sets to singapore!

sparklette.net on iPhone

here’s a video of how sparklette.net looks like on an iphone, along with all the awesome motion-sensor functionalities!

Credits to Adrian for being my hand model in the video

like the LG shine, the iphone also has a full-panel shiny surface (although it isn’t a mirror). it’s said to be highly scratch-resistant too, which is very important since navigation would be done solely on fingers.

what really struck me was how slim and lightweight it was. although of a much larger form factor, the iphone was distinctly lighter than my LG shine.

despite this being my first time handling an iphone, i found myself navigating the phone functions with much ease and familiarity. all those iphone videos floating around the internet over the past few months really helped!

thanks so much, paddy, for generously and graciously offering us a sneak preview of the apple iphone!

oh, if you’re interested, here’s a post i did earlier this month on another mobile phone with awesome motion-sensor features too!

    1. Er… Can we start loading 3rd party software into the iPhone yet? I don’t think its ready yet right? Or is he just hacking the phones to test his software? View all comments by Miccheng

    6. Hmmm…i think one would need a little more time to get use to the way of using the phone.
Touch screen phones are not recommended for drivers. Very inconvenient. View all comments by Tommy Chieng

And iPhone would be my next big gadget.
In addition to my MacBook, and iPod …
      One big happy family …

Anyway, thanks Veron for the cool video!

    11. Tommy Chieng: Oh yeah. That’s one thing about touch-sensitive phones. Same problem with PDA stylus phones I think.

py: I’m contented with my current phone too! The LG Shine rocks!

Naime: Oh! Cons. The soft keyboard would take time getting used to while you’re typing. For the men who used the iPhone that day, a few complained of not being able to input the exact keys they touched/pressed.

Jayson: Thanks! The iPhone seems to have the same number of colors as any desktop computer. I was surprised at how nice and crisp the colors were when I viewed my blog on it!

Paddy Tan: Hope you are still having fun with your iPhone(s)! Thanks once again! View all comments by Veron

    15. The iPhone will be a hot seller if it hits our shores even though the price tag is likely to be dear. It looks good and Apple fanatics will like it because it’s just from Apple. I will not get it because I love my current phone too much =) View all comments by Dennis

    17. That phone looks absolutely gorgeous! It isn’t called a geek’s wet dream for nothing, I guess; especially since it has a full-fledged web browser built in, people will be bringing their Internet addiction onto trains, buses, even while they’re waiting for their friends!

And the videos! Oh, I get the feeling that the iPhone might just change the social landscape. Probably wallets too, since you have to pay through your nose to get a decent mobile net connection. At least $22 for only 5 GB of data! View all comments by pkchukiss

    19. Dennis: I think by the time it hits our shores, the iPhone is going to be a much improved version than it is currently. The touch-sensitivity is revolutionising the way we use and navigate on mobile phones. It’s getting the attention of people all over and not just Apple fans.

      Paddy Tan: Exactly.

pkchukiss: lol I didn’t know it’s been called a “geek’s wet dream”! The full-fledged Safari web browser is a killer. It’s the first time I was ever so impressed with seeing my blog on a small device. It looked fabulous. As for the Internet connection, we can always use the free wi-fi available at many places.

hucks: One can hope! View all comments by Veron
