ever since vivocity, the largest shopping mall in singapore opened, i have been going there pretty often. after all it’s just a shuttle bus away from my workplace. do i like the place? no. the layout is horrible and there is no easy way to navigate. the building interior is divided into several wings, all of which look identical so you wouldn’t know which wing you have visited and which you haven’t. it becomes extremely difficult to locate a particular store in such a huge place. due to the bad design, you would frequently find yourself walking the entire length of one wing only to find that the store you are looking for isn’t there after all.
so why do i keep returning anyway? well it has enough stores to keep me interested even though half of them are not open. whatever i need, i know i would be able to find it there. the exterior of the building looks great at night, and i love the fact that its restaurants offer al fresco dining by the sea, overlooking sentosa.
i was there again recently and had a light snack at toast box, the sister chain of our favorite bakery, breadtalk. breadtalk’s most popular bread is undoubtedly the pork floss bun. so it comes as no surprise that toast box offers a similar rendition. pork floss thick toast, that is.

i find that i prefer the original floss bun. pork floss doesn’t go as well with toast because the bread is too rough and dry for it. but that’s just my opinion of course. of course, tearing the bread apart with picks is always fun. so it still makes for a delightful snack, especially if you pair it with a piping hot cup of traditional coffee.

as i was slowly savoring the coffee, i realised something: toast box’s coffee rocks! it really trumps ya kun’s coffee by miles! well i never really liked ya kun’s coffee anyway so toast box may just provide enough reason to keep me from patronising ya kun ever. heavy-bodied with a smooth finish… i never knew traditional coffee can taste so good!

doesn’t sound like he’s based in singapore, which means he isn’t the end user of this dysfunctional design.
that explains everything. View all comments by Veron

To clear things up (since apparently they aren’t clear enough already), this is just a blog that is in no way affiliated with Toast Box. Sorry to hear about your displeasure with that old lady. Probably she just prefers drinks to be less sweet? View all comments by Veron
