hello people. i present to you version 9 of sparklette.net, titled “void“.
i try to incorporate my favorite things into my layouts to make them more personal. for example, almost every single one of my layouts features stars of some sort. now, i shall explain why i included the various elements that i did in the design.
astronomy is a subject i have always loved ever since i was a young girl. in fact, it is the first area of science that i actually found an interest in and loved.
my love for stars and sci-fi movies, and my more recent interest in the theory of hyperspace all stemmed from this love in astronomy. i took up the module “understanding the universe” in my first semester in university despite hating physics.
next up is my favorite flower, the oriental lily. i don’t really fancy the usual rose, tulip or sunflower as much as the oriental lily. lilies give the general impression of being white. so when i first spotted this unique pink lily in a flower shop some time back, i was entranced.
red roses represent love, and pink roses, adoration. but i don’t really know what oriental lilies stand for. nonetheless, the pink oriental lily is really beautiful and exotic, and is no doubt my favorite flower.
it makes sense to title this piece “void” which is kind of what i’m feeling currently — the feeling of emptiness despite having a very hectic schedule almost everyday. i thought i have found meaning in what i do, but ironically the sense of emptiness just grows with it as well. it doesn’t make any sense.
unlike previous layouts, i did not include any meaningful quotes in this one, befitting the “void” theme. i have also moved the sidebar from the left to the right. the layout remains largely purple even though i have attempted using other colors such as blue and black. i still find a purple color scheme more appealing and suitable for this blog.

its beautiful. How quickly time flies - i remember the first time i landed on your blog - I think it was version 3 or 4. Shimmery Sparkles - Evidence of My Existence. I guess this layouts a little bit more moody - at the same time has a blend of the old purplish theme as well as new sidebar on the right. Have been so used to seeing your sidebar on the left all these months and years.
astronomy is a great subject. to read about, to learn and to understand. only goes to make us humans feel so small at times when I gaze at the stars out at see. stars that burn for millions of year (theoretically) while we can only rush about with our little lives on an insignificant planet in the galaxy in astronomical terms
someone once told me that all the interesting stuff is left out of the syllabus. everything boring, miscontrued and generally outdated in modern physics is taught to us. Hey, newton’s law of gravitation is WRONG for the orbit of the planet mercury you know? Only explained perfectly by Einstein’s General Relativity.

Some FaCtS about the night sky in S’pore.
1. The most easily seen constellation is Orion, most commonly known as the Hunter.
2. Just look up and when you see 3 stars connected in a straight line, that is Orion.
3. The 3 stars are actually the waist; you can also see the legs, the left and right arms and the shield. Sadly, the club remains unseen.
4. To the left is Gemini, or the Twins. The brighter stars are clearly visible. That’s about all the constellations that can be seen. Sad, isn’t it?
5. Some stars appear red. I do not know the actual reason; heard that it’s due to their temperature. Look at the right arm of Orion.
6. Within Taurus, there’s this cluster of stars known as the 7 sisters; they’re shaped like a "V". One of the stars is red too.
7. Not a fact; just a personal opinion. My favourite constellation is Andromedia. Partly due to a Jap movie that I’ve watched in the past.
Take care of yourself. I will be graduating in a few weeks’ time. Time flies. Things changes. Stars will never change; if diamonds are forever, stars live to outshine them.

Apparently, I’ve much to learn about the night sky. Orion, Taurus and Gemini are prominent constellations at some point of time in the night. During other times, you can see other constellations too, including your zodiac sign, Leo, characterised by a backward inverted question mark or else known as a sickle. View all comments by Kelvin
