sparklette.net has switched hosting servers! but before i even delve into the technical details, i would like to use this opportunity to get your opinion. what would you like to see on this blog? is it the food porn? the cute animal photos? do take this poll and let me have a clearer idea on what everyone is interested in. it would help improve my focus.
vote away!
anyway, what this switching of servers means for you is that you should be encountering far less downtime and error screens when visiting this blog. this had been a huge problem for the past six months, when the number of visitors to this site grew tremendously. it became clear that my shared hosting plan simply wasn’t able to accommodate the high traffic. at times i couldn’t even blog!
having hunted around for a new host to no avail, i dropped a desperate mail to my friend uzyn, who so kindly let me share some of his server space.
after spending the past five days migrating the blog, i noted a dramatic increase in blog traffic; i was hitting 200 unique visitors by the hour. it can only mean that previously, many visitors had been unable to load the site at all and simply logged off!
for now, singapore visitors may find the loading slightly slower than before. this is because i have moved from a singapore-based server to a US-based server. but it is certainly more reliable and accommodating to a larger audience.
as with any major move, there is bound to be some things i have not foreseen. so do let me know if you encounter any problems!

Personally, I miss the sparklette.net days when you use to blog about your life and activities. Call me creepy but I find your life and city fascinating! I might be a minority, but I don’t very much care for the food or gadget reviews. They feel like fillers, no offense.
Good luck with the move! They never go as planned. :P View all comments by Mandy

Hi Veron,
Yes, there were a few occasions when can’t access your site or its quite slow…… Good news for you (some sort of cyber traffic jams ? –> from lots of visitors !! ) but bad news for some of us (long waiting time to load up)
…haha….
As for the poll, I feel you can consider keep it as it is….. must balance the “yin” and “yang” of this place…don’t spolit the “fengshui”….
haha

Seiously, I loved your travel entries. Even now, I still refer to your HK entries periodically. I also loved your States and Japan entries. Its colourful and full of info. It is always one of the more comprehensive review available online so I definitely would love to see you continuing with the excellent travel entries:) View all comments by Audrey

I prefer photographs and the food review series, especially places which serve chocolate! I went to the Henderson Waves a few days back, but couldn’t get very interesting photographs - I wonder how you would see the same place View all comments by pkchukiss
