Just returned from Singapore and went to Hong Kong Cafe near Orchard Rd,what great service from Chris and Heime.

Will definitely go back again.

Awesome! That’s my favorite Xin Wang outlet! It’s the most convenient for me anyway, and isn’t too crowded like the rest.

But these things tend to be temporary in nature, and I’d like to be able to provide the most up-to-date information to my readers. Right now I already have a hard enough time keeping track of those eating establishments that have closed down!

That curry chicken with bread looks so tempting to me. I never noticed that there is this dish in their menu.

Mmmmmm …. Looks yummy indeed, and right up my alley. I find that Hong Kong street food seem to have a quite a following here although the curry chicken is a bit odd. Still, Singapore has alway been known as a cosmopolitan melting pot of flavours (ie rojak lah).

Yu-Tiao with hot thick Milo, hot chocolate or Tea (Vaporised Milk) is nice too !! Try it !!

Suggestions for your blog:
(1) Include special promotions informations when you feature a restaurant, example
if they have 1-for-1 free during lunch, free flow beer during happy hours, etc
(2) Include information like any special discount if you pay using certain
credit cards (if the restaurant tie up with any credit card promotions)
(3) Come up with coupons or allow a printout of your Blog for your readers to get free
desserts/ discounts etc (if you tie up with the restaurant…)
—> good way to gauge how many of your readers turn up at those restaurant
after reading your blog…

I know you dislike any discussion about you making $ from your blog, worrying how it may distort things etc etc etc etc but its high time you find ways to make $ from your blog to supplement your blogs / eating habbits !!! ;P
Example:
(1) Can consider tie up with credit card firms, restaurants, etc etc
(2) Go with your guy friends who like to give treats…..hahaha…
(but frankly there’re really such friends around us……)
(3) Auction off lunch/dinner dates with you or any of your single guy/female friends…

X Wings: Talking about that, a couple of days ago, I just tried the new curry chicken from Old Chang Kee. They had a $3 promotion, instead of its usual $4. The curry portion is similar to what you get when you buy a tau huey takeout, you know, the kind that comes in a transparent plastic container.

Anyway, the curry was surprisingly good! They don’t use coconut milk so I didn’t expect it to turn out that well. The bread that comes along is rather stiff though. It’s a big one in the shape of a semi-sphere and I just took a few bites and dumped it.

Boy, you tiao in curry sounds like an extremely sinful and heaty combo! I like to dip my you tiao in kopi. Nice! Try it if you haven’t :D View all comments by Veron

Hmm…I always prefer to eat curry chicken with bread you buy from those nieghbourhood confectionary where they sell those “home-make” “traditional” local bread.
Those types which are not square or rectangular….

My second choice would be baguette. My only problem with baguette is the cleaning up after the meal…lots of bread crunchs lying eveywhere on the table….

Third choice would be “yu-tiao” ….
try it, super sinful.

You can either use hot “yu-tiao” or the cold type.
Different taste, suitable for different type of curry.
