Mooncakes with a Difference! (Part 2)

As promised, here’s the last of my 3-parter series on unique mooncakes. You’ve seen champagne truffle mooncakes as well as rainbow-coloured ones. Now here are some with really interesting shapes besides the conventional round ones!

In a collaboration with Starbucks, Nokia released a set of 4 mooncakes, modelled after their l’amour series of glamourous-looking mobile phones. Ever seen mooncakes that are shaped like mobile phones? No? Read on!

Nokia L'Amour Series Mooncakes

Ta-da! I must say, these mooncakes don’t look very tasty or even edible, do they? I wouldn’t feel like biting into one. But they sure are among the most unusual mooncakes I have seen!

Nokia L'Amour Series Mooncakes

Each mooncake is shaped like an actual Nokia l’amour phone, complete with the Nokia brand name (of course) and pretty florals!

Starbucks has their own mooncake too. I love the way the logo fits perfectly onto the face of the mooncake. Come to think of it, wouldn’t coffee go well with mooncake? I’m so craving for a cup of joe right now!

Jelly mooncake

For those of you who aren’t huge fans of the traditional mooncake, opt for a jelly one! It’s purple too! Pretty, pretty. It even has an egg yolk at its centre.

And for the rest of you who don’t eat mooncakes at all, maybe you might hug one instead, such as a cuddly plush toy! Meet Mr. Mooncake!

Then there are the animal-shaped ones of course. A cute bunny-shaped mooncake, perhaps to honour chang’e?

Last but not least, my personal favourite — a Hello Kitty-shaped mooncake biscuit! Ahhh! I miss Japan all over again!

So, what’s the most unusual mooncake you have had this Mid-Autumn Festival?

Neat how Starbucks has moon cakes!
Starbucks here in the USA would probably never have mooncakes, unless it was in Chinatown or something.

Here, we only get chocolate chip cookies, muffins, cupcakes, etc. and no Asian foods at all, which I can understand, but it would be nice to have more Asian culture around here.

I first heard about mooncakes by accident, looking up “marriott deserts” on google! I have been dying to try these ever since- does anyone know where I can get any in the us? I’ll even order them online if i have to, they just sound so good!
