Sri Bistari Changi Village - Best Ayam Penyet of the East!

being a huge fan of ayam penyet (smashed fried chicken), i am always on the prowl for this sinful dish. but now that there are so many places where you can find it these days, it’s becoming hard to sift out the really good ones from the rest. the latest gem i have uncovered is sri bistari changi village.

don’t be misled by the name though. they actually have six branches, albeit most of them in the east, with just one in the central area. (check out this page for all the locations.) my family and i visited one of their stalls at changi village while we were en route to pengerang.

so just what made me fall in love with the sri bistari ayam penyet?

Happy Lunar New Year 2008!

dear readers,

first of all, a happy lunar new year!

Happy Lunar New Year 2008 from sparklette.net

i would be visiting relatives in sungei renggit, pengerang this holiday (we do this every year). it’s a laidback little town located south of desaru in johor. there isn’t much to do there, but the peace and quiet by the coast is a sweet relief. plus, the food there is awesome! authentic 2-ringgit ramly burgers with 16 different kinds of sauce, anyone?

i should be taking more pictures of the place. meanwhile do check out my old blog posts on sungei renggit. there are pictures of beautiful sunsets and cute kittens, just the way i like it.

have a smashing holiday y’all!

much love,
veron

Disney Naturally - A Little Disney Experience

many of us grew up with disney cartoons. some of us even had childhood dreams of visiting a disneyland theme park one day. (i finally did that at age 23!) for me personally, this fondness for disney characters continued even through adulthood.

so when i checked out the newly revamped anchorpoint shopping mall, i was ecstatic to find disney naturally, a disney-themed restaurant. and what a rare find it was! according to the staff, this is the first disney-themed eatery outside of disneyland! given how commercially successful disney is, that is certainly a surprise.

Entrance & washbasin at Disney Naturally

of course, everything here is decked out in the full flavors of disney. life-sized statues of mickey, donald and goofy greet visitors at the entrance of this 1,400 square foot restaurant. don’t forget to wash your hands at the giant mickey’s hand wash basin before dining!

Food Addict Café - Get High On It!

if you are like me, you probably go to work everyday where you would have your meals at the same few places. so when a new restaurant opens in the vicinity, it would generate a bit of excitement among you and your colleagues. all the better if the food is cheap and good! and that’s exactly what food addict café is like.

some months back, this little restaurant opened in toa payoh central. it is such a breath of fresh air and easily stands out from along a row of nondescript shops where it is situated. being just the size of a single shop unit, seats are limited and especially so during chow time. hence, besides indoor seating, there are also tables spilling out to the outside of the restaurant.

Food Addict Café

the owners have given the place a funky decor, with colorful wall motifs and brightly colored furniture and cups. food-wise, what you would find here is mainly italian and western cuisine. and it certainly doesn’t fail to impress! after all, the chef has 15 years of experience whipping up dishes at n.y.d.c.!
