Japan (Day 6) – Sanrio Puroland (Home of Hello Kitty!)
(Note: There are 50 photographs in this post. Loading may take a while.) Caution to guys: Cute overload ahead! If you wish to skip the ensuing kawaii-ness in entirety, scroll all the way down for some nice photos of a Buddhist temple. On this day, I paid a visit to Sanrio Puroland — home of Hello Kitty and all things cute! If someone was to designate a kingdom of cuteness, this would be it! I had been looking forward to visiting this indoor theme park even before coming to Japan! Sanrio Puroland is located in Tama, in the Western part of Tokyo prefecture. It lies outside of Tokyo’s 23 special wards where Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ginza and all the places I had visited over the past few days are. Setting out from Shinjuku by train, I had to commute more than an hour before finally arriving at the Keio Tama Center Station. The moment I came out from the station, I found myself in the town of cuteness! Even though Sanrio Puroland was still a distance away, the surrounding area was already decked out in cuteness! Take this little pink building for instance. It is called Patio and houses cafés and [...]

I never believed in going on tours organised by tour agents. We got our air tickets through a travel agent so that it would be cheaper. As for accommodation, we booked it over the Internet prior to our trip. We planned our itinerary after doing some research on our own.

I love your writing style, very informative and helpful. If I ever visit Japan I shall know more than nothing. I was in Paris, and I didn’t know that there is Eifel tower duplicate in Tokyo.

Thank you so much! Keep reading!
Tokyo Tower was built based on the design of Eiffel Tower. The resemblance is there, but I wouldn’t exactly call it a duplicate :)

hey there, yes there are men in Tokyo, especially crowded areas like Shibuya where they would accost you on the street and ask if you wanted to make some good money. Mostly it’s for porn biz or to take photos in sleazy magazines. They tend to approach single gals or gals in small groups like 2s or 3s. Just tell them you don’t speak japanese. :)

Many foreigners work and live in Japan, so I am sure the country welcomes people from many lands. I speak zero Japanese, too, and had a great time anyways. So don’t let that deter you from going there.

For these photos, it’s the Konica Minolta DiMAGE X50. These days I have upgraded to a Canon :) Both are compact digital cameras.

Nice!! I noticed all your pics have that bright colour contrast and some have glowing effects. Is that just from the camera or do you use a photo editing program to make them look vibrant? Sorry for the questions, but I own a DSLR and I still can’t seem to get my photos to be as bright coloured. Maybe it could be that Japan just has great lighting everywhere? Thanks for your help!
