Singapore Jurong Bird Park – The Birds are Cute! [Video]
I made a trip to the Singapore Jurong Bird Park recently. I know what you’re thinking! Yikes, who wants to go visit birds right? It’s a shame that many Singaporeans find the Bird Park boring. We tend to go there only on school excursions and rarely make a return trip during our adulthood. In fact, it was my first trip there in more than a decade! Most of the visitors I saw were tourists! In actual fact, I was pretty psyched! My main purpose in going to the Bird Park was to visit the emperor penguins. Why? Because everything about them is cute! The way they look, stand, or waddle — it’s all too cute! Especially after movies such as March of the Penguins, Happy Feet, or even Madagascar, penguins have risen up my pecking order. (I will blog about the birds in the order that I saw them.) Of course, we made our first stop at the “penguin expedition” (it’s also the first stop from the main entrance). This is a darkened place where 5 species of penguins live in a cold glass enclosure. There’s ice, rocks, cliffs, burrows and a pool. The two little ones in front are [...]

Sure is! I’ve been going there once a year since 2007! In fact, I’m going to visit those adorable King penguins again this weekend!

Hi Veron,
Don’t know if you still follow this blog, but I must write in to thank you for the wondeful memories you re-kindled in me about the Jurong Bird Park. I was there just last month, (end Oct. 2009) and had a whale of a time there. Your pics brought out vivid memories of my visit there, and I found myself comparing several of my own photos to yours, trying to figure out what I saw but missed photographing, or what I missed photographing altogether.
Thanks for sharing and all the best.
Cheers. Shankar

Thank you for writing :) It’s wonderful to know that another person enjoys the Jurong Bird Park as much as I had. As a matter of fact, I went there a couple more times after I wrote this article, the last time being in August 2009. My favourite exhibit has always been the penguin enclosure followed by the big aviary.
Where are you from? If you have a website or Flickr account, perhaps you could share your pictures of the birds? :)
