There are some very impressive yachts in the world. People who are every bit as remarkable as their ships own many of the world’s most powerful yachts. These inimitable individuals have invested a great deal of time and money into making their personal vessels as unique as possible.
Here’s a look at four of the most impressive yachts currently in service along with their owners.
Carinthia VII
Carinthia VII is all about speed and power. She was built in 2002 at the Lurssen yard. Her owners decided to give her a refit only three years later before sending her back to her homeport in Antibes. She’s one of the largest luxury yachts in the entire world, but it’s what’s under the hood that actually counts.
Four MTU 1163 diesel enegines generate 10,064 HP each. She can reach a maximum speed of over 26 knots, even when fully loaded with 27 people. Despite the fact that she’s usually docked in France, Carinthia VII sails under the flag of Austria. Heidi Horten, who is the wealthiest woman in Austria, owns the yacht.
She has a home in Lyford Cay in the Bahamas, which might help to explain why she needs such an incredibly fast yacht.
Quattroelle
Quattroelle was also assembled at Lurssen. She was designed by Nuvolari-Lenard, which is one of the top Italian design firms. When she was delivered to her owner in 2013, Quattroelle could accommodate 16 guests and 29 crewmembers in her default configuration. Her eight staterooms can be reconfigured many different ways, and she can certainly play host to some very large parties if need be. She comes complete with a massage parlor to relax after a hard day of gazing out at the ocean.
Her name is every bit as unique as her layout. Quattroelle is a play on the phrase four L’s, which her owners say stand for Love, Life, Liberty and Luxury.
Chopi Chopi
Chopi Chopi is the largest yacht ever built by the famous CRN yards. She was delivered to Azmi Mikati and his family in 2013. At a gross tonnage of 2,323 tons, she is one of the largest yachts in the entire world. The Zuccon International Project designed a special exterior made of steel grafted onto an aluminum superstructure.
In addition to 12 guests that can stay in their choice of six staterooms, Chopi Chopi features a crew of 33 separate individuals. A beach club, massage room, gym, bar, two Jacuzzis and a helicopter platform round out the incredible features of this jaw dropping yacht.
Red Dragon
Red Dragon is a sailing yacht constructed by Alloy Yachts back in 2008. She was assembled for Baron Guy Ullens de Schooten Whettnall, who is heir to the famous Wittouck family fortune. The Wittoucks were owners of the Tiense Suikerraffinaderij, which was the largest sugar producer in Belgium.
Her 51.7-meter length might seem massive, but what’s really surprising about this incredible sailboat is the fact that she’s actually available for private charter. The Baron has a taste for Chinese art, which is reflected in the vessel’s unique name. Some of his art collection is displayed on the yacht’s interior.
Any of these yachts are truly jaw dropping. Whether they’re powered by sails or engines, you can be sure that they make quite a splash on the international scene.
