Red Bull Stratos mission: Felix Baumgartner's space jump

Yesterday, millions around the world logged on to YouTube to watch the Red Bull Stratos mission live. After flying to an altitude of 39,045 meters (128,100 feet) in a helium-filled balloon, daredevil Felix Baumgartner completed a freefall jump from the edge of space, becoming the first man to shatter the speed of sound with no mechanical propulsion.

His last words before taking that step:

I wish you could see what I can see. Sometimes you have to be up really high to see how small you are.

I’m going home now.
