Holland Village XO Fish Head Bee Hun - XO May Save It

ever since the famous abc market closed for revamp some time last year, it’s been quite a headache finding dinner in the neighborhood. most of the time my mom and i go to alexandra village. last night, we decided to pay the zi char (home-cooked fare) stall at redhill kafetien a visit.

the name of the shop is holland village xo fish head bee hun. i believe it has its flagship shop at holland village. no prizes for guessing their house specialty. as usual, we ordered plain white rice with a chicken dish, a fish dish, and a vegetable dish.

Khansama Tandoori Restaurant - Packed with Spices!

after visiting the museum of shanghai toys in little india recently, my friend and i hunted around for some nice indian cuisine. that’s when i had the opportunity to savor the first north indian meal of my life.

Little India on a Sunday

we were at khansama tandoori restaurant, a place that serves authentic north indian delicacies as opposed to the more ubiquitous south indian eateries. the al fresco dining area on the ground floor was brimming with customers, mostly tourists. we were escorted to the second level that had air conditioning, purple walls and almost no customer.

International Museum Day 2006

i have divided this blog entry into four parts that correspond to the four museum stops we made:
First stop: Civil Defence Heritage Gallery
Second stop: Singapore Philatelic Museum
Third stop: Singapore Art Museum
Fourth stop: Museum of Shanghai Toys

international museum day is held on may 18 every year. i have always been the kind of girl that loves museums. i have previously visited the raffles museum of diversity research and the asian civilisations museum.

this year, the national heritage board has rolled out a series of tours to about thirty museums around singapore. and on sunday, a friend and i went on our very own museum trail!

Sun with Moon Japanese Dining & Café - Art on a Plate

on the third level of wheelock place lies a restaurant, named rather curiously, the sun with moon japanese dining & café. we were there on a friday evening and it wasn’t easy to get seats since we did not have any prior reservation. we were put on a waiting list and thankfully, the waitress managed to get us a seat within half an hour.

ambience-wise, this place is definitely top notch. it spans a spacious three units with seats that range from regular dining chairs and lounges, to counter seats and small café tables. we were seated at this table with an L-shaped bench and comfy cushions, separated from the next table by a translucent grainy curtain. due to the odd bench, i wasn’t facing my dinner partner throughout.
