Mee sua with dried scallops and abalone slices (RM12.90)
You have seen our fish ball noodle meal at Ah Koong Restaurant in Taman Sentosa, Malaysia, followed by a sumptuous seafood feast at Jade Garden Seafood Corner in Sungei Rengit, Pengerang. After all the indulgent food, it is time for a healthier meal!
Our Johor food trail ends off at the Tang Shifu restaurant in Jusco, Tebrau City. Tang Shifu promises you a “nourishing life” with a great variety of double-boiled herbal soups and nutritious dishes.
Interestingly, the shop front resembles a Chinese medicinal hall, with various Chinese herbs and dried products on sale. The dining area is partitioned from the store, boasting posh décor with crystal lights and leather high back dining chairs. It is a blend of luxury and nostalgic ambience.

The appetiser of guava with tangerine peel is an instant hit. It is refreshing with a sour after-taste.

While the soups sound similar, my favourite item is the dried scallops brown rice porridge. It tastes better if the Huai Shan (yam root) is cooked over a longer time, so you can enjoy its softer texture.
RM19.90 (half price)
Perhaps it is our lucky day. The bird’s nest with rock sugar is on a half-price promotion at just RM19.90 – a real steal! You are presented with a bowl of loose bird’s nest strands swimming in rock sugar solution. Of course, at that rock bottom price, we can’t really complain.

For dessert, go for the dried pear with Chuan Bei (Fritillaria). The moderately sweet combination nourishes both the throat and lungs.
