The Peony Jade restaurants have rolled out a range of gorgeous snowskin mooncakes for Mid-autumn Festival. When it comes to mooncakes, you usually focus more on the flavours rather than how the mooncakes actually look. As much as we love the uniquely-shaped mooncakes from The Fullerton, we must admit that these peony-patterned snowskins from Peony Jade are some of the prettiest around.

New for 2011 is the chocolaty snowskin salted caramel with dark crunchy chocolate pearls, with the overall sweetness balanced by a tinge of salt. The chocolate pearls sure make this a fun treat!

The Alphonso honey mango sago pomelo turns out to be a bitter disappointment, or shall we say sour. The word “honey” is rather misleading, as the mooncake turns out to a morsel of fruity sourness, a flavour we don’t usually associate with mooncakes.

But when it comes to impressing, the Mao Shan Wang durian in organic pandan snowskin definitely delivers. Eating this is akin to enjoying the actual King of fruits itself – mouthful after mouthful of nothing but fresh pulpy goodness, with the light fragrance of pandan.
The mooncakes are available at Peony Jade until September 12, 2011.
