Changi Airport Millionaire Grand Draw – Singaporean Crowned ‘Changi Millionaire’
The grand final event of the Changi Airport Millionaire Grand Draw was held on 20 January, 2013 at the Changi Airport Terminal 3. One lucky contestant was crowned the ‘Changi Millionaire’.
Business Development Director Peh Hock Peng beat four other finalists from Singapore, China and Australia to emerge the overall winner and walk away with S$1 million in cash.
In the nail-biting finale hosted by local deejays Daniel Ong and Lin Pei Fen, the audience was treated to the exciting live action. The five finalists battled it out over four stage games filled with suspense, twists and even hot models.
Round 1 – Dress Up the Mannequin
In round 1, the finalists dressed up mannequins according to certain specifications. In this task based on speed, the fastest contestants got to decide on their own sequence in the next round.
Predictably, the ladies proved the quickest. Ms Pan Li Zhu from China was the fastest to complete her mannequin, and elected to start first in the next round.
Round 2 – Pick the Lucky Top Hat
10 sexy models appeared to entertain the crowd briefly, though their mission was not that simple. Every model donned a shiny top hat, and the contestants who picked the hats with the pink star could move on to the next round.
Ms Pan was on a lucky streak. Not only did she win the first round, she also found the star!
In a surprising twist, the remaining finalists, who thought this was an elimination round, all moved on successfully to the third round.
Round 3 – Pick the Lucky Gold Block
A life-sized tower of gold blocks was the centrepiece of round 3.
Only two blocks had the pink star, and the finalists who picked the correct blocks got to enter the final round!
As it turned out, Ms Sun Ming (whom we interviewed previously) and Peh were the lucky two!
Round 4 – Spin the Wheel
The final round comprised of a colourful spinning wheel divided into six segments, each holding a key that opened a door on stage. Only one door held the million dollars. Which will be it?
Ms Sun spun the wheel first.
Unfortunately, she did not get the key to the winning door.
Next to spin was Peh, who was clearly aiming for key number one.
And door number one indeed opened to a million dollars!
Changi Millionaire 2012
Congratulations to Peh, the newest millionaire in the third run of the Changi Airport Millionaire Grand Draw!
I was standing right next to Peh’s family, comprising his wife, two sons and mother-in-law. They erupted in cheers and screams the moment the million dollars flew out the winning door. Their joy was so contagious that one can’t help but feel happy for them!
When asked what he plans to do with his winnings, Peh said that he would upgrade his current property and his car.
The other finalists came out winners too. Each received S$5,000, a three-night stay at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Hotel, and airfare for the non-Singapore residents.
Treats for the Public
Even as the grand draw officially ended and the newest Changi Millionaire was crowned, the celebration only just got started.
The public got to enjoy a free large-scale buffet spread. Popcorn and candy floss machines were served too!
As for me, I can’t wait for the next run of the Changi Airport Millionaire Grand Draw in 2013. There are many perks to shopping at Changi Airport, including 7% savings, and of course, the chance to be a millionaire.
