Hands up if you’ve ever let yourself indulge in a sweet after-food dessert, only to feel pangs of calorie-laden guilt afterward. I know I have. But luckily for us there is one dessert that is totally yummy and, at the same time, does your body a whole lot of good. I feel it’s my duty to inform everyone because no one should have to feel bad when enjoying a dessert!
Those of you who have drank avocado milkshake before would know how heavenly good it is. But do you know that this milky dessert drink is power-packed with 14 kinds of minerals and nutrients such as potassium and vitamins? Avocado is probably the most “complete” fruit there is. So while you are tucking into this little treat, you are also filling your body with all kinds of good stuff!
A great place to get your avocado milkshake is Mr. Avocado at Alexandra Village Food Centre. The boss has been making the drink for 18 years. Wow! With that much experience, you have to believe that his milkshake is good!
S$2.50
Rating:
The avocado milkshake here is a blended mixture of the fruit, fresh milk and evaporated milk. I’m not exaggerating when I say that it tastes super good, and is simply perfect as a nice, healthy, yummy after-meal dessert. It totally had me right from my very first sip!
The boss takes pride in the fact that he only uses low-fat milk and top-grade avocados imported from Australia. The fruit itself is pretty pricey, so $2.50 is certainly a very reasonable price for such a thick and rich mixture.
Mr. Avocado is also the first avocado milkshake stall at Alexandra Village. When you’re doing well at something, there are bound to be people wanting to emulate your success. True enough, the stall has spawned several copycats at the food centre, with one just two stalls away! But if you were to ask me, nothing beats the original.
Look out for the stall with the avocado green signage that has a cute avocado cartoon character and a big pile of plastic avocados at the front. Incidentally it sits right beside Lao Ban Zhai Roasted Duck, which sells duck rice to die for. So a good combination would be to order a plate of duck rice, and wash it down with an avocado milkshake. Ahh… Life is good again :)

The avocado shake is to die for indeed!! I can’t rem if the stall I bought from is the original one. They all look the same to me.
From your photos, the drinks look like they contain a lot of ice cubes. Does it still taste good after a while?

Oh ice cubes, not a problem. The shakes were so creamalicious that we gulped them down waaay before the ice cubes melted!

You have to try the peanut avacado juice! Its a few stores down from Mr Avacado. They have lots of fruit juice pictures hanging outside their fruit juice stall. In fact, its a corner stall located next to the shui jing pau stall. haha. yea, peanut avacado, go try. Its almost like a healthier version of peanut butter. =)

pammiez: I know exactly which stall you’re referring to! I thought they’re just a regular fruit stall but that peanut avocado juice sounds really intriguing! How are the peanuts used? Are they crushed so you can still taste the bits or are they like peanut butter?

I gave him a $50 as i do not have any small change
he say ” any small change, btw its only $2″
I ” sorry but i hv no small change”
he began to murmbled and show his dismay to me while giving me my change.
Though I must agree their juice is nice bt if the service sucks, no matter how good u r, yr biz will sure face a downfall

One of the stalls selling Chee Cheong Fun has moved to ABC Market, while the Rong Guang stingray stall moved to one of the neighbouring blocks (I think it’s 127). Not sure about Mr. Avocado. A new avocado drink stall opened at ABC Market recently, but it’s not the same one.

Anybody knows where it has been relocated since the hawker centre is under reno… withdrwal syndrome…

If you aren’t particular about the stall, a new avocado juice stall just opened at ABC Market (near Alexandra Village). It doesn’t appear to be the same stall as the sign is different and the name “Mr. Avocado” doesn’t appear anywhere. But that may curb your craving :)

Thanks for letting us know! As you can tell from the comments above, many of us have been wondering where Mr. Avocado moved to. I have updated my post to reflect the new address along with a map. Hope this helps fans find their way back to Mr. Avocado!

Wow, thanks for the update! I still wondering where most of the famous stalls from Alexandra Village moved to. I saw a few at ABC market recently, also thought it was the same Mr Avocado… but now it seems the real McCoy is at Margaret Drive.
What about the famous claypot laksa? Where has that moved to?
What’s up with the different coloured stickers on the avocados? Their mango juice is also heaven!

lol maybe they have different grades for the avocados, like durians! The claypot laksa has relocated to the neighbouring Block 119 next to Alexandra Village.

The different colour stickers on the avocados is mainly used for attracting attention as avocados itself has a dark unattractive colour. It is not for differentiating the grades, especially when those are mock avocados for display purpose only…
Mr Avocado will be in Margaret Drive for about 10 months, after which it will moved back to Alexandra Village when the renovation completes before year end…

Thanks! I have updated the review with the new price.
No idea about that Zi Char stall, unless you are referring to the Rong Guang BBQ Seafood stall that sells stingray, which has moved to the neighbouring Block 127. Hope someone gives you the right answer!
