If you have been a Sparklette reader over the years, you’ll probably know that my favourite mooncakes are none other than the legendary snowskin mooncakes with champagne truffle and ganache at Raffles Hotel.
For Mid-Autumn Festival 2012, the Raffles Hotel mooncakes come in the usual tin box in a shade of magenta. In the past, the boxes featured floral patterns with a Chinese lady artwork. This time round, the hotel has opted to display the drawing of its iconic building on the lid instead.
Each box holds a set of 8 mini snowskin mooncakes.
S$60 for a box of 8
New for 2012 is the Banana Passion snowskin mooncakes. This tropical creation features banana and passion fruit in a smooth chocolate truffle, which is nestled within creamy white lotus paste and tender snowskin. I dig the distinct whiff of banana and the fact that the mooncakes are not overtly sweet.
S$64 for a box of 8
Then, there’s the aforementioned bestselling champagne truffle and ganache snowskin mooncakes. At the centrepiece of each ivory white morsel is the prized champagne truffle with a white chocolate shell, surrounding soft ganache. What I enjoy most about this mooncake is that you can actually taste the champagne! Mmm… These snowy white mooncakes seem to look and taste just as good year after year!
