Best (& Worst) Restaurants in Singapore (2006)
I have reviewed many restaurants in the past year, and it took me one full month into 2007 before it finally hit me that I should have a “Best of” list! Rather than let the good restaurants go forgotten, I have awarded little doughnut trophies to the best ones around, complete with various different awards! When I started this, my intention was to have just a few basic categories such as Best Food, Best Service, Best Ambience, etc. But soon I got carried away and came up with more categories such as Best Hawker Stall and Best Hidden Gem! They even have nominees a la Oscars! Rules: All winners are determined by me, obviously. The judge’s (my) decision is final. All disputes would be ignored. Each winner gets a little doughnut trophy that I have made with love (I meshed a frosted doughnut with a world cup trophy), and a chance to thank me by offering me a free meal! Disclaimer: I know there are many other good and perhaps even better eating establishments out there that I have not included. But the only eligible ones are those that I have actually visited in 2006. So please don’t come asking [...]

Graze has great ambiance, fantastic service but the food is absolutely horrible.
I took my fiance there for dinner, (he happens to be an excellent cook and restaurateur) and boy, I was bashed all night for picking such a place for dinner. He ended up complaining to the sous chef coz the head chef wasn’t around! Yikes! Perhaps that’s why. Our waiter was apologetic all night and we ended up getting a huge plate of dessert on the house which was nice at least. But too bad, because I don’t think we’ll ever go back there nor recommend it for dining.

I visited the outlet at the Science Centre before. Their variety isn’t that great, although it was still worth the price. I would recommend the main outlet in Orchard Road though. Last I checked, the buffet costs $2 more but the variety is fabulous. There’s even crayfish (a rarity in buffets, even the ones at hotels)!

Last week a friend bought us dinner at Bedrock…dinner was really good. Ambience, food, service….we had agreat dinner experience. FYI, Bedrock and White Bait & Kale are understander the same boss. It’s hidden at the Pan Pacific Service Suits 1st level. Encourage to try. Lamb rack serve with sausage, onions & celery is really good…..must try if you r there with friends.

I liked your site and will try some of the restaurants you rate highly. I am not a native of Singapore but I visit quite often and was there last week. Some friends took me to Le Pont de Vie, an independent restaurant in Kandahar street in one of those great shophouses. They have just introduced a new menu, which is in essence a tour of the some of best European dishes – and not only French or Italian ones! We were all very impressed by the quality and authenticity of the food, as well as by the friendliness of the staff and the ambiance.

Ohhh yeah! I love word-of-mouth recommendations. Le Pont de Vie is located at one of my favourite districts in Singapore, the Kampong Glam. Thank you, I will check out this European restaurant.
There are some amazing restaurants in this area, including Altazzag Egyptian Restaurant and Deli Moroccan. In my opinion, you would find some of the most colourful and eclectic eateries in Singapore in Kampong Glam alone.
